Do you need to take a Firearms Safety Course In Mass. to apply for your LTC or FID?

You are only required to attend one basic safety course to apply for your LTC or FID card. We do recommend that additional courses be taken to increase your knowledge and proficiency. Will your Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Class fill all of the requirements for me to apply for a license to carry? Yes.

What's the difference between FID and LTC?

The FID permits the purchase, possession and transportation of non-large-capacity rifles, shotguns and ammunition. The LTC is broken into two classes: Class A and Class B. Each has its own regulated practices, but a Class A LTC is the only license that allows concealed carry in Massachusetts

What is the age for FID?

New FID applicants must be 18 years or older (or 14–17 years of age with parental consent). Applicants 14 years old may apply, but will not be issued the card until they reach age 15).

What is the age for LTC?

New LTC applicants must be 21 years of age or older to obtain a permit.

Can you get a gun license with a felony in Massachusetts?

Under federal law, people are generally prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms if they have been convicted of a felony or some domestic violence misdemeanors, or if they are subject to certain court orders related to domestic violence or a serious mental condition.
